Course Description

This class is for biochemistry and physics beginners in elementary and middle school who want to learn high level science in a fun and interactive way. Taught by Dr. Daniel Fried and Dr. Azadeh Samadani, this day camp will feature two days of modeling-based biochemistry instruction and activity-based physics experiments. Students will learn about chemical bonding, the periodic table, and complex biomolecules like proteins, DNA, RNA, and carbohydrates. Kids will come away from the biochemistry program with a deeper understanding of the 3D form of the molecules and how they relate to life. In the second half of the program, students will study the fundamentals of mechanics, electricity and magnetism, sound waves and optics, and construct artistic creations that demonstrate interesting physics phenomena.
