Pingry’s First Tech Challenge Camp: Robotics
Code, Design, and Learn to Compete with Robots!
Course Description:
AM – Build
This camp will teach students to learn to think and design like engineers. The program will teach hands-on techniques that will help effectively create various mechanisms using parts approved by the FIRST Tech Challenge. FTC robots typically use a combination of these mechanisms in competitions to achieve the goals set forth by the challenge for the season. Pingry middle schoolers compete in the FTC competition as part of the robotics team. FTC teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.
PM – Programming
Through this camp students will learn to control and automate FTC robots using programs developed using Blocks, a drag-and-drop graphical language based on Google’s Blockly. This software is easy to learn for beginner level coders. In the FIRST Tech Challenge competition, teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.
