Study Skills – Middle School
Learning is a lifelong skill and knowing how to study effectively is crucial to academic success in high school, college, and beyond. This course is designed to help incoming 6-8 graders adjust to the increasing academic expectations of middle school.
Drawing on evidence from both brain and behavioral research, this class incorporates a variety of hands-on activities to guide students through a process of self-reflection, and setting personal learning goals. After students gain a better understanding of their own learning style, they will begin exploring a range of techniques to tailor an approach that works best for them. Topics will include time management and organization, note-taking, memory techniques, focus and motivation enhancing strategies, analyzing and incorporating teacher feedback.
