International Ivy – Youngster – Jobs in the Community
This class can be taken more than once. There are different themes every week. Students in this class will explore jobs in different sectors of the community. They will learn about each job through activities like role-play, books, videos, arts & crafts and hands-on projects. Math is integrated by incorporating the skills of addition, subtraction, money and two and three-dimensional shapes into job-related activities. Art and technology is also integrated in projects like designing the logo and advertisements to promote their selected job. Week 2 and Week 6 – Arts, Crafts and Design Jobs: Graphic Designer, Photographer, Illustrator, Jewelry Designer, Fashion Designer, Makeup Artist, Interior Designer. Week 3 and Week 7 – Health and Medicine Jobs: Nurse, Midwife, Dentist, Pharmacist, Radiographer, Physical Therapist, Speech Pathologist and Optometrist. Week 4 and Week 8 – Engineering and Construction Jobs: Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Architect, Town Planner, Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber. Week 5 – Animals, Farming and the Environment Jobs: Veterinarian, Animal care worker, Zookeeper, Farm Manager, Landscape architect, Ecologist
