Reason and Rationality

Reason & Rationality Institute is a discussion-based introduction to Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE).

The theme of the program is: Rational Individuals and Responsible Systems. Students will learn to recognize the same patterns of conflict across national news, school PTAs, and family life. They will study how laws, prices, and ethical norms are different ways of solving similar problems. ​The course also introduces students to key ideas from the theory of knowledge: How claims are evaluated, how evidence supports or fails to support conclusions, and how we decide which sources and experts deserve trust.

Reason & Rationality classes are rigorous and focused, because they are built around the excitement of a real problem to crack. Students sharpen their critical thinking and speaking skills. They get better at listening to what others are saying, jumping in at the right moment, and explaining what they think.
