Creative Writing: Reimagining the Forgotten
Course Description
Have you ever looked at a person in a photograph that you don’t know and wondered who they were and what their life was like? Maybe you even began constructing a story for them. In this class, we will take photographs that have been abandoned or have lost their story and create new narratives for them. Similar to the process Ransom Riggs used while writing his famous book Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, we will select photos collected at various flea markets and put them together to create a new story for these images. This is a great exercise to get creative juices flowing regardless of what genre you would like to write about, and the end goal will be a polished short story that will be published as a collection alongside the images.
