High School Writing Lab with Dr. Madere

Immerse yourself in the art of written expression and effective communication with our Early High School English Writing Lab. Tailored specifically for students in the early stages of high school, this transformative course goes beyond the basics to foster a passion for writing. Led by Dr. Madere, a dedicated English teacher of multiple grade levels at Pingry, participants in the Writing Lab will embark on a dynamic journey of self-discovery and literary exploration. This course will include:

Interactive Writing Sessions: Students in the Writing Lab actively participate in engaging writing sessions that encourage creativity and critical thinking. Guided by Dr. Madere, participants delve into various writing styles, exploring narrative, persuasive, and descriptive forms to enhance their expressive capabilities.

Collaborative Learning Environment: The Writing Lab is not just a course; it’s a community of aspiring writers. Through group discussions, peer workshops, and shared questions, students build meaningful connections with fellow writers, fostering a supportive environment where ideas flourish, and constructive feedback becomes a catalyst for growth.

Insights from a Pingry English teacher and alumnus: With Dr. Madere at the helm, students gain valuable insights into the creative process at Pingry and receive expert guidance on honing their writing skills. Through discussions on writing-related topics and personalized feedback, participants uncover tips and techniques that go beyond the classroom, setting a solid foundation for their ongoing literary journey.

Comprehensive Evaluation and Goal Setting: Each participant receives a written summary of their work, an evaluation toward their writing goals, and personalized considerations for future development. This holistic approach ensures that students not only understand their current strengths and areas for improvement but also have a roadmap for continuous growth in their writing endeavors.
