Pre-Calculus
Course Description
Pre-calculus prepares students for college-level mathematics. The course integrates conceptual understanding and real-world application of concepts. A strong emphasis is placed on graphical representation of equations/functions. In the beginning of the course, students will take a deeper approach to concepts previously learned in Algebra 2. The functions studied include algebraic functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. Additional topics will be included to prepare students for the rigors of future Advanced Placement courses.
The latter half of the course will cover analytic geometry, sequences and series, limits, and an introduction to derivatives.
This course meets the credit requirements for an Advanced Level, full year, Pre-Calculus course.
Note: For Pingry students, prior administrative approval is required before registration.
