Wellness 10 (Advancement Course)
Course Description
Stress is an inevitable part of life, learning how to manage stress is a vital skill not only at Pingry, but beyond. Wellness 10 takes an in depth look at the science of stress, why the right amount of stress is beneficial, as well as common stressors in our lives. From there the class focuses on healthy ways to manage stress, using physical activity, healthy eating and breathing exercises as springboards to a better understanding of the importance of self care. The course concludes with training in Teen Mental Health First Aid (TMHFA), a program designed to give teenagers the tools needed to identify when a friend is having a mental health challenge or mental health crisis. Through a series of discussions and role playing scenarios students will become empowered to step in and seek appropriate adult help when another person is in need.
This class is a requirement for all Pingry Sophomores.
