Change is Good

Fall is a time of change, and change is easy to see on Pingry’s Basking Ridge campus. Big Blue Summer may be over for 2017, but as the weather cools I can’t help but think back to our campfires and snowball fights and smile. I see the campus painted with the colors of the changing leaves and picture the vibrant colors that emerged each week from our art studios. Pingry’s Varsity athletes are practicing on the fields where Minis kicked their first soccer balls. Whatever may change, our Big Blue Summer memories remain.

Summer 2017 was also a time of change. We challenged staff and campers to approach camp through our new lens of the Honor C.O.D.E. We worked toward developing a leadership training model that began with our oldest campers, preparing them to graduate into greater independence as they finish middle school. And we kept our ears open for future areas of growth and change.

We’re already hard at work on those changes and improvements for Summer 2018. A new website is in the works (full release expected in September), and the new registration system will be operational in time for Summer 2018 early birds! Both of these tools will allow for improved communication between families and camp – one of your major requests. We are also reviewing programming to enhance our leadership training, build on our Honor C.O.D.E. culture, and create a strong sense of community among campers and staff of all ages.

Fall is also a time for Thanksgiving. Thank you for being part of our journey to discover and define our strengths, explore how we can achieve our Honor C.O.D.E. mission, and make Big Blue Summer memories that will last a lifetime.
