Pingry Summer Minis Day Camp
Pingry Summer Minis Day Camp is a special place where discoveries are made not only on the playing fields, in the classroom, and in the art studios… but in every puddle, shadow, and pile of sand on campus! Our Pingry Summer Minis Day Camp program feeds on the natural wonder of this age group by allowing plenty of time for creative play and guided investigation. Minis specialty activity rotations last 30 minutes to accommodate a preschool attention span, and activities are adapted to meet the interests and abilities of this age group while still encouraging creativity, openness, dedication, and enthusiasm!
Minis receive a leveled swim lesson each day while the pool is available and swim staff can devote their full attention to each child, from a fearful first-time swimmer, to an over-confident little fish. Instructors will work 1:1 with campers until they are comfortable in the water. Swim instructors will also visit Minis during lunch and play times to help build a bond of trust that allows campers to make steady progress in the water. (Even the strongest of minis swimmers will wear a flotation device in order to ensure safety.)
Our Minis Counselors receive special training to work with this age group under the close guidance of the Minis Division Leader. Social and communication skills are the primary focus for Minis: singing encourages little voices to speak up, and new vocabulary from specialty classes is repeated and highlighted throughout the week. Counselors guide Minis to participate in solving playtime problems, like taking turns and sharing. Emergent literacy is supported through daily reading, and natural opportunities to use mathematical skills abound: Minis love to make patterns and count objects as they travel through their day.
Pingry Summer Minis Camp is for kids aged 3+ and are fully potty trained.
